Cardston School Senior Choir wins Nationals

Not many kids get to say they are National Champions at something, but grade four, five and six students from CES and CJHS who belong to the Cardston School Senior Choir can share that title with pride!

Earlier this year, the talented Sr. Choir won not only provincials, but also won first place at the National Music Festival. This isn’t the first time that the group has won Nationals, but this year’s win was extra special, as it marks 25 years that Linda Burwell and Lori Williams have been the chorister and accompanist for the choir.

This morning students were presented with certificates and trophies to recognize their hard work, dedication, wonderful talent and incredible results. Mrs. Burwell shared the judge’s glowing feedback with the choir, including praise recognizing their “excellent musical phrasing” and the fact that their “dynamics and tuning were exemplary.”

CES also has a Jr. Choir for grades two and three students that has won first place at the provincial level many times, including this year (they do not complete at nationals).  Choir at CES is an extra-curricular program that rehearses once a week early in the morning and requires hard work and discipline from the students. Both choirs are also lucky to have Deedra Norton assisting Mrs. Burwell in the music programs and as choir manager for the past six years.

Way to go, Jr and Sr. Choirs! We are so proud of all you have achieved and how well you represent your schools and Westwind School Division. Keep up the great work.
