Staff/Students and International Travel

As you make your Christmas plans, please continue to be aware of international travel requirements, as situations may change quickly over the holiday season.

Pre-entry testing requirements for fully vaccinated travellers entering the country following short (72 hours) trips have changed. Based on current guidance, unvaccinated staff and students, including those under the age of 12, must not attend school for 14 days after returning to Canada. Learn more.

Here's what you need to know, based on government guidelines:

Unvaccinated/Partially Vaccinated Children under 12

  • For 14 days following travel, unvaccinated/partially vaccinated children under 12 must not attend school, even if the trip was less than 72 hours.
  • Random testing - fully vaccinated travellers who are selected for arrival testing must quarantine in a suitable place until they receive a negative test result - this may result in missing some school.
  • Regardless of vaccination status, if a child tests positive on their entry test or shows symptoms, they must isolate for ten days.
  • If the PARENT of a child under 12 tests positive on re-entry test or experiences symptoms, the child must quarantine for 14 days and not attend school.
