WWSD Alumni Archaeologist Supporting WAS Student Learning

Dylan Frank, a #TeamWestwind alumni, had a chance to give back and share his wisdom with a group of WWSD students last week, teaching them all about archaeology!

A member of the Blood Tribe and a Cardston High School graduate, Dylan is also an archaeologist and works as a Public Outreach Education Officer in Waterton Lakes National Park. His interest in archaeology was sparked in his childhood when his mom found a 9,000-year-old spear point while they were exploring. Dylan graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2020 with an Archeology/Geography degree and has been working in and exploring Southern Alberta ever since!

Last week, students from Westwind Alternate School were the very first to participate in this unique school program. Dylan took students to an archaeological site in the park, showed them several types of artifacts, and discussed how the 2017 Kenow Wildfire affected the park. Students had a great time and learned so much!
