The position is 15 hours/week (Monday to Thursday) and will commence on October 20, 2025, and conclude on March 6, 2026.
Introduction:
Westwind School Division is pleased to announce an opportunity for a caring and talented Educational Assistant (EA) to join our dedicated team at Spring Glen Elementary School. Educational Assistants (EAs) play a crucial role in student learning, often working closely with some of our students who require more specialized support.
EAs are key members of the school team, working in various locations within the school, including regular classrooms, special classes, and other unique spaces. Their job is to help students with multiple needs, including those related to thinking and behaviour, emotions and relationships, and physical abilities. Being an EA means being flexible and willing to adapt. What they do might change from one year to the next or even during a single school year.

Under the direction of the principal and learning support teacher, the successful candidate will:
- Be willing to work one-on-one, in small and large groups as needed.

- Be able to work independently with students on individualized instruction and programs.
- Be patient, empathetic, and solution-focused.
- Be able to handle diverse situations and challenging behaviours positively.
- Be flexible and able to adjust activities and assignments as needed.
- Have good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a friendly, positive attitude.
- Be able to work as part of a team and be involved in school activities outside of the classroom.

Qualifications and Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Willingness to provide a current vulnerable sector check before employment begins.
- An Educational Assistant certificate or diploma is an asset, but not necessary.
- A current first aid certification is a bonus, but is not mandatory.
