Board Policies

January 16, 2020

Board Policy 8 COMMITTEES OF THE BOARD

  • Addition of section 2: Audit Committee to reflect legislation in the new Education Act.

October 3, 2019

Approved update to Board Policy 4 Appendix B: Trustee Code of Conduct Sanctions.

  • Addition of:

11. If a trustee is disqualified under section 87 or 88 of the Education Act from remaining as
a trustee of the Board and does not resign as required under section 90, the Board may by
resolution declare the trustee to be disqualified from remaining a trustee or the Board
may apply for originating notice to the Court of Queen’s Bench for an Order:
     11.1 Determining whether the trustee is qualified to remain as a trustee, or
     11.2 Declaring the trustee to be disqualified from remaining as a trustee

September 5, 2019

At the May 30, 2019 Board Meeting, trustees approved the following policy amendment:

Board Policy 7 BOARD OPERATIONS

Original Text

4.7 The Board will hold special meetings provided that petitions are received signed by at least ten (10) electors who indicate they will attend a meeting on any weekday at a date, time and place designated in the petition. The petition must be submitted to the Superintendent or designate at least three (3) weeks prior to the date on which such a meeting is required. An acceptable alternative to a petition is the receipt of at least ten (10) individually signed letters from electors indicating the same information required of the petition described above.

A special meeting must be held within thirty (30) days of the receipt of this petition submitted to the Superintendent or designate, at a location to be determined by the Board. An acceptable alternative to a petition is the receipt of at least forty (40) individually signed letters from electors indicating the same information required of the petition described above.

September 5, 2018

At the September 5, 2018 Board Meeting, trustees approved the following policy amendment:

Board Policy 8 COMMITTEES OF THE BOARD

A motion was passed by the Board to amend section 4 of Policy 8 regarding committee membership for the Student Engagement Committee. Previously, this committee included junior high and high school students, however with the approved change this committee will only include high school students from across the Division.

Administrative Procedure 140 TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTABLE USE

  • Update to reflect that the Technology Acceptable Use Form (Student) will be included in the annual online student enrollment verification and will be acknowledged annually by parents. Additionally, the terms will be reviewed at the beginning of each school year with students. Additionally, there have been updates to the Technology Acceptable Use form for staff.
