Honouring Westwind’s Long Service and Retiring Staff

On June 12, over 300 staff members from across Westwind School Division gathered at the Magrath High School gymnasium for a year-end BBQ — a joyful celebration marking the end of another successful school year and an opportunity to honour our long-serving and retiring staff.

The event was filled with laughter, great food, and warm appreciation for the individuals who have made a lasting impact through their service, commitment, and care. Superintendent Darren Mazutinec shared heartfelt remarks during the ceremony:

“Our staff are the heart of this Division. Today we recognize not only years of service but also years of mentorship, inspiration, and meaningful connection. We are so grateful for the legacy you’ve helped build.”

25 YEARS

  • George Olsen – Bus Driver, Cardston Shuttle

  • Mark Iwaasa – Teacher, Stirling

  • Mike Romeril – Teacher, Mountain View School

  • Josh Sherwood – Vice Principal, Spring Glen Elementary & Magrath Elementary

  • Elbert Paxman – Custodian, Spring Glen Elementary

  • Mike Maynes – Teacher, Raymond High, New Rockport, East Raymond

  • Char Teramura – Vice Principal, Stirling

30 YEARS

  • Stacy Jacobs – Principal (Current: CES; Former: Central Office, Mountain View)
