Orange Shirt Day 2019

Cardston Junior High School celebrated Orange Shirt Day last Thursday with a full day of activities, learning opportunities and special guests, including the Grammy-nominated group the Young Spirit Singers, who were nominated for the Best American Roots Performance at the 2019 Grammy Awards.

The day included workshops on drumming, anti-bullying and the history of residential schools and staff at CJHS put together resources and activities to teach students more about Orange Shirt Day and First Nations culture. The Cardston Junior High drumming group, the Little Chiefs, had the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform with the Young Spirit Singers and Trustee Anna Joyce also took the opportunity to speak to students about truth and reconciliation.
